My rates are very reasonable and I can work from home or from your workspace. Although my strengths do not lie in development, I have the skillset required to get my head around most things. I've done a fair bit of front end design for websites. Other work includes newsletters, layout design, CSS and prototypes for clients. I've also created and prepared adverts for print. When creating interactive objects, user scenarios and prototypes are always part of my design process. Each person has a pillow for their bed and a ring sensor which they wear to sleep at night. The sensor wirelessly communicates with the other person’s pillow; when one person goes to bed, their lover’s pillow begins to glow softly to indicate their presence. Placing your head on the pillow allows you to hear the real-time heartbeat of your loved one. The result is an intimate interaction between two lovers, regardless of the distance between them. I also developed the branding, graphics and packaging for the product. Due to the volume of people I have had requesting to purchase Pillow Talk, in September 2010 I formed my own company to develop the product for market. You can follow its development over at my company's website - Little Riot - or by liking it on Facebook. We're currently slightly short of the funding required to take Pillow Talk to market. interactive objects to network two generations - in our case, a grandperson and their grandchild. Neil’s grandad has a large selection of traditional slides and many stories which go with them. He is worried that eventually no one will bother to set up the projector and thus the stories will be lost. During our research, Donald said he wished he had some way of saving all his photographs and stories in a way which would allow Neil to hear them forever. <img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/11201/113200/storymakerstoryteller_640.jpg" width="640" height="427" width_o="900" height_o="600" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/11201/113200/storymakerstoryteller_o.jpg" data-mid="597802" border="0" align="left"/> The Storymaker is a small, handheld device into which Neil’s Granpa inserts slides and records a story. It is simple to use - the design kept similar to that of a traditional slide viewer - as he finds new technology difficult to get his head around. The stories are then saved and are wirelessly transmitted to Neil’s device. The Storyteller is a small desktop projector. When a story is received, an audio recording of the story is played and the slides are projected onto the wall but on a much smaller scale than a conventional projector. This keeps the exciting feel of the experience but allows it to be more efficient and practical. When a story is being played, Donald’s voice fills the room and the projector displays the photographs as he inserted the slides. The result is an engaging ineraction between Neil and his Granpa, allowing Neil to learn more about his Granpa’s life and allowing Donald to learn a little bit about the technology involved in Neil’s life in return. We created "The Resolution Reaching Hat", a hat which would have been used to aid decision making within a business. "The Resolution Reaching Hat is a decision-making aid, invented in 1905 by Neville Watson, creator of automata and Quentin Goodall, a milliner. It fooled the public for nine years. The hat was created when the owner of a cotton mill asked for a device to help make decisions regarding his business. Goodall and Watson failed to produce an automaton capable of making calculated decisions. Instead, they produced an elaborate and convincing mechanical display of clockwork that generated an entirely random answer. The hat's secret lay dormant until 1912 when the partners fell out and Goodall exposed the lie in anger." This is our dicumentary video, one of the project requirements. The purpose of this project was to explore the early days of interaction design. Considering our design language and how to give our design an authentic feel was an important part of the challenge. This project took my researching skills and design consideration skills to a new level. This was also one of the first design projects where we had to craft the object entirely by ourselves. This lead us to the new and strange land of the university workshop and meant a lot of late nights trying to make our design a reality. I created a tent into which users could climb: when they placed their hand on a small box, their heartrate controlled a slideshow of photos which were projected on the inside of the space. The most important part of this project, for me, was the interaction. The technology was a difficult hurdle but one I eventually overcame.
